Intraradicular posts

Intraradicular posts are monolithic structures that are fixed in the dental canals. They are used in situations where the tooth is severely damaged and there is no longer any possibility of carrying out a restoration of it.

The inlay as such consists of two parts: first, the root part (post-shaped or several posts) and the coronal part (stump-shaped). The lower part (root) is cemented in the tooth canals and the upper part (coronal) serves as a support for the crown.

Placement of intraradicular posts

The fixation of intraradicular posts is carried out in several stages:

  • consultation and impression taking
  • computational modelling and design of the structure
  • product placement

The intraradicular posts that are placed prior to the dental crown can be made of different materials and the prices of these will vary depending on which ones are used. We can find the following types of intraradicular posts:

  • metallic
  • ceramic
  • of zirconium dioxide
  • metal-ceramic

What is the difference between a classical post and intraradicular posts?

Intraradicular posts are distinguished from the classical ones by the following characteristics:

  • designs are created individually for each patient and are not made in advance
  • this type of structure distributes the load on the tooth evenly
  • the intraradicular post is placed in several stages, and not all at once

The placement of intraradicular posts is possible only in those cases in which the tooth root remains. In the consultation at the ID Dent clinic, the dentist will help you with the choice of material and the restoration method of the dental unit, taking into account your general medical situation and your wishes.
